corporate a 4-letter word? i'm always amazed at how my career seems to deter women. lesbian? great! educated? okay, i've fallen victim to a world of spell-check dependency, but i've also spent enough time in school writing papers that... well. yeah, i've got some brains. sense of humor? sarcasm and wit melt my heart and i'm more than happy to reciprocate. employed? yes... working with law and numbers and... done.

valid point... i'm not for everyone nor is everyone for me. but i get a lot of flack for not 'bettering the world'. either that or a an infatuation... as if i would make a good bread winner/savior to someone. i'd rather work my tail off to 'impress' someone than have them fall in love with a few external characteristics/traits. i'm afraid of heights... superficial pedestals scare me.

Okay, I think flyingdogs point is well said. If whatever you're doing isn't working, change it up a bit. There are zillions of ways to meet other, like-minded lesbians in the Boston area. Check out madfemmepride on Meetup.com, or go to an event sponsored by the Greater Boston Business Council ().

people assume that accountants, financial managers, insurance brokers etc. have boring jobs and are therefore boring people. Either that or they're intimidated by a job that they don't understand. You could just be looking in the wrong places... try joining meetup.com and getting social with groups. That'll up the chances that you'll meet someone you have enough in common with that they aren't thrown off by a career with lawyers, figures and bureaucracy.

or get a dog cause they are not only good company, but you can meet others at a dog park or just out and about with your dog. and even if I don't like someone, I always think "they can't be all bad, they have a dog"

Do you always *focus* on your career? Maybe focusing on your accomplishments instead of your personality and passions is actually the deterrent? Unless your job really is your passion, which makes it trickier to navigate.

I dunno, isn't one of the first questions one asks another when meeting for the first time, "What do you do?"

O, totally. I was just throwing that out there. If the OP comes across in conversation the way she does in her posts, I'm not surprised that women back off.

and herein lies the original issue... personality and career are often two very different things. the context of the question was based on the career side. my conversation/personal life is a far cry from it.
