My wife is pushing to have a baby It's a long story, we're married a year. We're 45. She has a grown child from a previous, short marriage. Before marriage I was open to the idea of having a family my experience over the past year has completely turned me off. My wife is irresponsible and can't handle anything. We've been to counseling to work on our issues. She's very insecure, very tempermental and raises her hands. I don't want a baby. period. Now she tells me I lied to her just to get married. Sex life has been in decline. Really because she refuses any sort of birth control. No condoms, nothing. So I tell her I guess that means no sex. Then she gets furious. I don't know what to do. This is not what I envisioned marriage to be.

No doubt, but why stay married?

That's the Q I ask myself every day. I see less and less reason every day. Constant complaining - I don't communicate, we don't do enough couply things. We don't buy enough household things together. When we got married she had nothing. SHe basiy moved into my home with some clothing and that's it. My home is not bad. Still new, nicely furnished. Now I'm expected to get rid of all the relatively new furniture and spend all my money (because she does not and will not contribute) to buy all new furniture that "we" like to see if that makes use feel more like a couple.

It's okay to admit you made a mistake and undo what sounds like a miserable marriage. The way you tell it there is no good reason to stay together. And since there are no children to consider, I'd say this is a no brainer.

New furniture will not make either of you happy

I know, but we (I) still have to buy new things all of the time. My wife does not feel like it's "her" home. I tell her that I'm sorry that she had nothing, and that I happen to have a home that I worked hard to save for a long time. She does not contribute anything! So when she starts going mad about needing to feel like it's her home I simply respond by saying I'm not sure how anyone can feel like something belongs to them unless they contributed for it in some way. She said that I need to sell and we have to move someplace else.

No you don't HAVE to do anything you don't want to do. You need to get divorced now before she takes everything you own.

I'm not doing anything more Nothing ever made this woman happy. I paid for the whole wedding, even had to buy my own wedding band. She has it pretty god. No expenses and she spends her salary as she sees fit.

I'll never understand why poeple allow or expect not to share the money. To me it's all my money, and all her money too. None of this my money, her money stuff.

You are in the classic logic loop of: What's mine is mine and what's his is mine. She will bleed dry until you bury her. Don't hesitate when you her down, finish her.
